Kids: Intro to Basics

Course Overview: It is highly recommended that each student between the ages of 6-12 take this class before enrolling in others. This will better prepare them for future classes.

This class is designed to teach kids essential kitchen skills that will set the foundation for future cooking adventures. Through fun activities and hands-on experience, children will learn about kitchen safety, basic cooking tools, measuring, and simple cooking techniques. Students will also prepare a dish they can be proud of, building confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Class Focused Skills:

  • Kitchen Safety: Hands-on practice washing hands, sanitizing surfaces, and handling tools safely.

  • Measuring & Mixing: Accurate measurements, proper mixing techniques, and working with ingredients.

  • Basic Knife Skills: Safe cutting techniques for soft foods, using a knife properly.

  • Cooking Techniques: Simple sautéing and baking methods, with supervision.

  • Presentation: Plating and serving food, making cooking fun and rewarding.

Post-Class Follow-Up:

At the end of the class, kids will receive a Young Chef Certificate to celebrate their completion of the basics.

They will be encouraged to try out the recipes at home with family and practice their skills.

This Cooking Basics Class for kids is designed to make the kitchen an exciting and safe place to learn, with hands-on, easy-to-understand activities that build confidence. By the end of the session, kids will feel ready to move on to more complex recipes and techniques!
